Dr. John Samas is a New York-trained plastic surgeon with a passion for helping patients feel confident, empowered, and like the best version of themselves. As the founder of 5280 Plastic Surgery in North Denver, he brings a unique combination of surgical precision, artistic vision, and personalized care to every patient interaction.
Originally from New York City, Dr. Samas began his medical journey at Stony Brook University, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Philosophy. While at Stony Brook, he contributed to cancer research as a research associate working on targeted chemotherapy, a role that ignited his lifelong dedication to science and healing.
He earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, then completed a rigorous General Surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center. It was there that he discovered his true calling: Plastic Surgery. Dr. Samas went on to complete his accredited plastic surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center and Stony Brook University Hospital, training with the renowned Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, the oldest and largest private plastic surgery practice in the United States.
During his training, Dr. Samas gained extensive hands-on experience at high-volume New York hospitals, including Level I trauma centers, a regional burn center, and a hyperbaric wound care center. His training spanned cosmetic breast surgery, body contouring and post-weight-loss surgery, breast cancer reconstruction, complex wound and trauma reconstruction, and burn and hand surgery.
Today, his practice is dedicated to cosmetic surgery of the breast and body, including breast augmentation, augmentation revision, breast lift, and breast reduction, as well as liposuction, tummy tuck, and post-weight-loss body contouring, along with minor procedures and injectables.
Dr. Samas has published research in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at national and international medical conferences. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Aesthetic Society, and the Colorado Medical Society.
After 10 years of training, Dr. Samas moved to Colorado to be closer to family and embrace a more balanced lifestyle. Prior to founding 5280 Plastic Surgery, he worked with several Denver aesthetic practices. He holds hospital privileges at Good Samaritan Hospital, HCA HealthONE Mountain Ridge, and Swedish Medical Center. He performs surgery at AAAASF-accredited surgery centers, including The Orthopedic Surgery Center, North Metro Surgery Center, and Murphy Plastic Surgery Center, and performs office-based procedures in his North Denver office.
Languages
Dr. Samas speaks English and Greek fluently and conversational Spanish, and Natasha, our medical assistant, is fluent in Spanish.
Personal Note
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Samas enjoys spending time with his wife and children, hiking Colorado's scenic trails, traveling, and playing basketball.

Originally from Jackson, WY, and currently based in Northglenn, CO. I am pursuing a Biology degree at the University of Colorado Denver. My professional background is rooted in healthcare and patient care, supported by an Associate of Science in Health Science and Wellness and a Medical Assisting certification from Laramie County Community College. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and deeply committed to providing welcoming, organized, and high-quality care to every patient who walks through our doors.

Born and raised in Denver, I love being part of the 5280 Plastic Surgery family as the Front Desk and Patient Coordinator. One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to know our patients, making them feel welcome, and helping them feel comfortable and cared for from the moment they walk through our doors. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling whenever I get the chance. It's so rewarding to watch our practice grow, and I feel truly grateful to be part of a team that makes such a positive impact on our patients' lives.
